Year 7 Parents’ Information Evening 15/9/2015 Reporting Systems and Progress Reviews

A Different Way of Reporting 2 interim reports (23 rd October and 6 th May) 2 National Curriculum reports (29 th January and 15 th July) Numerically driven, alongside concise, specific written targets Monitored by senior staff, Directors of Learning, form tutors Personalised intervention programmes for 16 students each year

The Interim Review Grades Each subject teacher will enter a grade for: Resilience Behaviour Team working Homework These are graded as follows: 1 = Excellent 2 = Good (most students will fall into this category) 3 = Variable 4 = Poor

A New Style of KS3 Assessment No more National Curriculum levels in the new National Curriculum Years 7, 8 and 9 are now assessed using GCSE- style grades Current working grades will be reported (if students took the GCSE exam now, then this would be – broadly – what they might achieve) No ceiling on achievement and progress at Key Stage 3 Offers continuity – students can see what they are working towards at the end of Year 11 Response to student voice

Broad Conversion From Levels to Grades Level GradeUN (Nearly equivalent to G grade) GFEDCBAA*

Progress Grades on Reports A = Above previous half yearly grade in the subject E = Equal to the previous half yearly grade in the subject B = Below the previous half yearly grade in the subject

Broadly the same proportion of students will achieve a grade 7 and above as currently achieve a grade A and above. The bottom of grade 1 will be aligned with the bottom of grade G. Grade 5 will be awarded to the top third of students gaining the equivalent of a grade C or bottom third of a grade B. The Department for Education has decided that grade 5 will be a ‘good pass’.

Year 7 Progress Reviews Wednesday 11 th November :10-3:30

The Progress Reviews  minutes per interview  In the form room  With the form tutor  A chance to discuss progress and general issues/concerns  A review of Interim Review grades (sent home on Friday 23 rd October)  Set personal targets at the end, monitored within the vertical form group
