Self Reflection Are you meeting your target on your target card? Why/Why not? Are you meeting your target on your target card? Why/Why not? What do you need to do to improve this lesson?

Hinduism Assessment Learning Objective: To evaluate whether the Hindu idea of God is a useful way of understanding God.

Is the Hindu idea of God a useful way of understanding what God is? It is usefulIt is not useful In your groups, mind map on your sugar paper either arguments for or against this question. You will need to choose your two best arguments to share with the class.

Useful or Not Useful 7W4 Useful A good way to learn about the different parts of God in more detail. People can believe in the god they want or that suits them but are still following the same God and religion. People are at different stages in their lives. Good to learn that there are different sides. Can see why people are worshipping more specific gods. Individuals can choose. Not Useful Too complicated to learn. Might be different to your understanding. Should just make it simpler and worship one God. Hard to understand. What is the point in learning the many gods? Some are unnecessary. Confusing. Too many different sides.

Useful or Not Useful 7Y3 UsefulNot Useful Freedom of choice. Everyone is different so they all have different gods. They choose the god most suited to them. Don’t have to worship the same God. Still only worshipping one God but just the different aspects – this gives you a better idea of what God is like. Helps us understand what happens in the world because of the different aspects and roles of God. Solves arguments. It is easier to have one God so you can focus more. Too confusing as there are so many gods. Hard to follow. Hard to get your head around. Have to have lots of different statues. Not possible to learn about them all.

Useful or Not Useful? 7X2 Understand the different personalities and qualities of God. Choose what god you want to worship. Choose the one that suits you or a time in your life. Still true to your religion. Can understand how they link. Having separate gods makes it easier to understand how a god can both destroy and create. The tree is a simple and effective way to explain God. Clear understanding. Less arguments. One god and many gods is confusing. Why can’t there just be one God? A Hindu can never fully understand Brahman this is shown in the Blind Man and the Elephant. Takes time to learn the different gods. Should just be monotheist or polytheist. Do we need all these aspects? Useful:Not Useful:

Part Three On the one hand I do think that the Hindu idea of God is a useful way of understanding what God is. One reason for this is... Another reason why the Hindu idea of God is a useful way to understand God is... On the other hand, I don’t think this is a useful way to understand God because... Another reason why I don’t think it is useful is... In conclusion, I think this is/is not a useful way of understanding God because...

Peer Assessment Comment on: Their use of examples. The detail of their explanation. Whether it is easy to understand. Giving a balanced answer and conclusion.
