2 Context and Rationale The MDGs were created in 2000 as a concrete means to help improve the lives of poor people. With 6 years left to 2015 progress is mixed. Need to move faster, galvanize support from all segments, and keep the Goals high on political agenda. Citizen involvement and public accountability are essential to achieving the MDGs Need to think strategically about how to reach desired outcomes The MDGs were created in 2000 as a concrete means to help improve the lives of poor people. 4 MDG-F Advocacy Strategy Goal: Accelerate progress on the MDGs by raising awareness, strengthening support and action and increasing citizen engagement in MDG policy and practice. Outcomes 1. Increased awareness and support for the MDGs and the Fund 2. Programmes leveraged for increased MDG results and citizen engagement in MDG-F and MDG processes is strengthened; and 3.
