4 Import Date- the were imported in the united state in 1873 Cross breeding- Santa Gertrudis cows have a very low calf mortality rate and are renown for very strong mothering abilities and for producing calves op to 16 years of age. Developed/imported -King Ranch Australia introduced the breed in 1952 with the importation of 75 bulls and 200 heifers. Lifespan- 14 to 15 years

5 Domestication- Turkey and also near east of turkey. Purpose- The modern Santa Gertrudis are medium framed cattle. They are exceptionally good foragers non-selective and with an excellent walking ability cover long distances in search for food and water. Orgins- The Santa Gertrudis breed was developed on the King Ranch in South Texas. The selected combination of Shorthorn and Brahman produced this cherry red breed. It was recognized as an American breed in the USDA in 1940.

6 Nutrition- nutrition of the bulls land in normal paddock conditions and not fall in a heap. Hygiene- Herd identification- King Ranch disease- great depth and length of body, with more loose skin about the neck, brisket, and navel than the breeds of strictly British origin Costs-

16 Santa gertrudis are homed or polled. Developed from brahman and desirable carcaees with little waste fat. Other traits include calving ease. Good milking gbility, disease and insect resistance, And adaptability to warmer climates.
