Developed/imported -King Ranch Australia introduced the breed in 1952 with the importation of 75 bulls and 200 heifers. Lifespan- 14 to 15 years

5. Domestication- Turkey and also near east of turkey. Purpose- The modern Santa Gertrudis are medium framed cattle. They are exceptionally good foragers non-selective and with an excellent walking ability cover long distances in search for food and water. Orgins- The Santa Gertrudis breed was developed on the King Ranch in South Texas. The selected combination of Shorthorn and Brahman produced this cherry red breed. It was recognized as an American breed in the USDA in 1940.
