Planning Notes: English English Options English 9 or English 9 Advanced o You must earn A’s in English 8 to take Advanced next year If you are an ELD student, select the next level of ELD o You will have 2 periods of English daily (No elective) o When you enter your classes in Q Portal, select both semesters of ELD Writing and both semesters of ELD Com o ie: ELD Writing 3A, ELD Writing 3B, ELD Com 3A, ELD Com 3B

Planning Notes: Math Math Progression - ( Must be taken in the order listed) Intro to Algebra A-Intro to Algebra B (summer before 9 th only) ↓ Algebra 1A-Algebra 1B ↓ Geometry 1-Geometry 2 ↓ Algebra 2A-Algebra 2B If earning an A or B in 8 th grade Math, select the next Math level from the list above. If earning a C or lower in 8 th grade Math, we recommend you repeat your current math level in 9 th grade

9. Science Biology 9 th graders generally take Biology Enter both Biology 1 and Biology 2 when selecting your classes in your Q Portal Your Science class may be changed by your counselor, depending on your academic performance

12. Academic Elective Options Foreign Language To enroll in a foreign language students must earn a “C” or better in 8 th grade English Visual and Performing Art Career prep You must choose an alternate for your elective and write it on BOTH Registration Forms!

13. Use this sheet to select your FIRST choice and ALTERNATE choice electives. Write both on your Registration forms but only enter your FIRST elective choice in your Q Profile!

Choose wisely, because at GHS, there are: NO CLASS CHANGES and NO TEACHER REQUESTS/CHANGES

16.  Reminders: Online Registration  Follow instructions on your handout Go to: student.gusd.net Enter your ID number & Q Password Select yourself as a 9 th grader! For each 1 year class you must enter TWO semesters ie: Algebra 1 = Algebra 1A and Algebra 1B There should be a total of 12 course selections on your final list of classes Don’t forget to enter SUBMIT after selecting all your classes!
