4 South/West Corridor Zarzamora and Military Primo BRT projects » Separate routes » Project-specific schedules » Different design and construction teams » Connections at Madla, Kel-Lac, and Brooks transit centers » Zarzamora will extend service on Fredericksburg Road to the South Texas Medical Center Transit Center 4

7 7 7 Military Drive: bus travel time reductions during the AM and PM peak periods of approximately 11-16 percent can be achieved Zarzamora Street: bus travel time reductions during the AM and PM peak periods of approximately 7-13 percent can be achieved Bus time savings an be achieved with minimal adverse impacts to automobile traffic

9 Zarzamora Primo BRT Project Project elements » Limited stop service from Fredericksburg Rd. to Madla Transit Center » Connects with east-west proposed Military Primo BRT Project » 26 branded station stops » New shelters for weather protection » Public art and landscaping » Traffic signal priority » Solar lighting » Sidewalk connections and ADA access 9

10 Zarzamora Primo BRT Project Environmental Review and Potential Impacts Zarzamora will require the acquisition/encroachment of small strips of property for shelter placement at 20 of 26 station stops, including: » Cassiano Park » Escobar Park » Local historic Malt House 10 Access to properties maintained Minimal on-site parking loss at some properties; will not affect business operations

11 Zarzamora Primo BRT Project Environmental Review and Potential Impacts Historic and Cultural Resources review underway Protected karst spider caves at two stops at Ruiz Street will be monitored during construction Compatible with Community Character » Provide access to opportunities for south/west communities » No impacts to low-income and minority residents » Consideration of Zarzamora culture and history for shelter design 11
