WATER

CHEMQUANDARY It takes 120 L of water to produce one 1.3 L can of fruit juice and about 450 L of water to place one boiled egg on your breakfast plate. How can you explain this?

Uses of Water: 1. Direct -measureable water use -water actually used (drink a glass of water) 2. Indirect -hidden uses of water -water used to produce or manufacture something

Hydrologic Cycle (Water Cycle)

Hydrologic Processes Condensation -water vapor changes to liquid -ex. Cloud to rain Precipitation (rain, snow, hail, etc.) Evaporation -liquid state changes to gaseous state Percolation -water moving throughout the soil

Sources of Water Surface Water – comes from a river, lake, reservoir or other body of water Ground Water – comes from a well –Drilled into aquifers: a water bearing layer of rock, sand or gravel.
