4. Too Many Polymers—Benefits & Problems Benefits : Synthetic Polymers are inexpensive to make, strong, and last a long time. They have created and improved materials used in our daily lives. Have made very useful products that have increased safety and have improved our way of life, making it more advanced.

5. Too Many Polymers—Benefits & Problems Problems:  Some plastics are expected to last thousands of years because they do not react very easily with other substances.  (As a result) they do not break down, or degrade, into simpler materials in the environment ( like natural polymers can).

6. Too Many Polymers--- Problems Plastics increase the volume of trash: Because they do not break down easily in the environment and they are thrown away after one use since it is often cheaper to make new ones, than it is to reuse them.
