Desert Biome By Gavin Livesey and Megan Zawisza

2 What is a Desert you say? The desert is a wasteland that receives very little to no rainfall each year

3 PRODUCERS OF THE DESERT
The desert does not have a lot of plant life and the only kind of plant that is physically able to survive in the arid, dry climate of the desert would be the cactus, bushes, and shrubs.

4 THE DEVINE EATERS OF THE DESERT
Like the producers, desert consumers have to have adaptations that let them survive without water for long periods of time. A camel’s hump, that is filled with unused fat, is an example. There are also snakes, lizards, beetles, small rodents, birds, and bats that inhabit the desert region.

5 THE DESERT LOCATIONS There are deserts in almost every continent in the world including, North America, South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia.

6 THE TYPES OF DESERT SOIL
Because of it’s extreme heat and little rainfall, the soil is dry and infertile.

7 Temperature Ranges During the summer, it can get up to over a hundred degrees but at night it stays around forty-five.

8 Precipitation Because of their locations, most deserts get an average of only ten inches of rain per year.

9 Deserts in Danger Thanks to global warming, droughts are occurring more often, causing water holes to dry up. The increase in temperature may also cause more wildfires, altering the landscape. Pollution is another problem that will poison both the soil and the wildlife.

10 Helping the Biome We can help to prevent this by finding safer means of dumping chemical waste and use environmental safe cars and other mechanics.
