1.SET OBJECTIVES When setting objectives make sure to: Set specific goals e.g. More business Include real figures Commit to time scales

2.DEFINE TARGET AUDIENCE Establish Who are they? What do they like? The stimuli they are most likely to respond to.

3.EVALUATE COMPETITION Determine what makes you unique from competition. Find competitor's selling points in order to come up with your own niche.

4.BUDGET Estimate the available market Work out possible returns Consider cash flow

5.CONSIDER COMMUNICATION CHANNELS

6.DEVELOP THE RIGHT MESSAGE Focus on one big idea out of the many e.g. A solution for a segment Grab Attention Use Power words (Save,special,win etc.) Include a call to action

7.PROJECT THE RIGHT IMAGE First impressions count Be professional Ensure quality production

8.WORK WITHIN THE LAW Be careful with what you claim to offer i.e. explain clearly the solution you are offering and the limits. Beware of copyright material e.g. photos, audio etc.

9.MONITOR AND MEASURE Review the whole campaign. Did you meet objectives? Identify Measurables e.g. the number of opens and click rates for email blasts.
