Claims West Bank, Gaza, Golan Heights and ALL of Jerusalem.
UN passes Resolution 242 (trade land back for peace)

6. Settlements
Soon after winning new lands from the Arabs, Israel begins to build on it.
Whole Jewish

7. Yom Kippur War 1973 – Israel – vs – Egypt & Syria Arabs attack on
the holiest day
of the Jewish year.

8. Camp David Peace Accord
1979 Israel & Egypt make peace.
Deal made with help of USA.
Israel gives back
territory to Egypt.

9. Lebanon War 1982 – 2000 – Israel vs Lebanon
Israel invades to stop the PLO from launching attacks from Lebanon
Lebanon is in the
middle of a civil war.

10. Intifada 1987- 1993 Israel - vs – Palestinians
Arabs protest the military occupation of Arab lands. Boycotts, strikes, graffiti and stone throwing.

11. Oslo Peace Process
1993 Israel & Palestinians try to make peace with one another.
1994 Yasser Arafat, Shimon Perez & Yitzhak Rabin win the Nobel Peace Prize
1995 Palestinians given political control of some of the Arab territories.

12. Peace Process
1995 Palestinians given political control of some of the Arab territories.
1995 Rabin is assassinated
by a Jewish radical and
the peace process falls apart.

13. Al Aqsa Intifada 2000 – Now Israel –vs- Palestinains
Fighting between Israelis & Palestinans continues today
Over a 1000 Israelis
& 5000 Arabs have
died in the fighting

14. The Barrier Wall 2002 – Israel begins to build a wall that separates
the Arab West Bank from
Israel proper.
Arabs are upset that the
wall is built to protect
settlements they feel were
built illegally on their land.

15. Al Aqsa Intifada 2004 – Arafat dies
The PLO’s political wing FATA fights with HAMAS (another group we see as terrorists) over who will control the Arab territories.
HAMAS wins
in a 2006 election.

16. July War 2006 Israel –vs- Lebanon
Hezbollah a terrorist group in Lebanon kidnaps Israeli soldiers.
Israel bombs
Lebanon to
smithereens.
