2  is a stand-by fund established to enable more timely and reliable humanitarian assistance to victims of disasters and complex emergencies.  It’s objectives: Promote early action and response to reduce loss of life; Enhance response to time-critical requirements; Strengthen core elements of humanitarian response in underfunded crises

3 CERF- October 2014 Allocation- October 2014 Locations: Unity State- Bentiu PoCs; Bentiu Town; Nhialdu Awarded Organizations: UNICEF, WFP and their implementing partners Allocated amount: $949,709 USD Duration: 6 months (non- extendable)

4 CERF- October 2014 Prioritization criteria:  Areas that have critical nutrition situation- Rubkona County in Unity State, particularly Bentiu PoCs,  Situation compounded by FSL, health, WaSH and protection-including access constraints- concerns  Projects responding to the Nutrition Cluster Response Plan 2014- objective One; “Deliver quality, life-saving, management of acute malnutrition for at least 75 percent of SAM cases and at least 60 percent of MAM cases in all vulnerable groups” that corresponds to the CERF objectives as well. In the light of the recent floods in Bentiu PoCs and escalation of conflict in Rubkona County, scaling up of existing life-saving nutrition response is needed to respond to the deterioration in nutrition situation, along with FSL, WaSH and health situations, access to services and expected influx of IDPs to the PoCs.

5 CERF- October 2014 Two nutrition responses were prioritized:  UNICEF’s SSD-14/H/60303/R Emergency Nutrition Response for the Treatment and prevention of malnutrition in boys and girls under-five, pregnant and lactating women;  WFP’s SSD-14/H/60068/R, Food Assistance for Treatment and Prevention of Malnutrition in children under five years of age & pregnant and lactating women. Both projects complement the treatment of severe and moderate acute malnutrition by working with same existing implementing partners in Bentiu, creating strong referral linkages between both treatment programs and utilizing same vehicles of service delivery.
