To develop a clear understanding of proposed system and to achieve a coherent and common consent on application flows.

 EMTTS Applications › Desktop App › Old Web App › New Web App

 Desktop Application apart from its desktop, has a lot of database and Application design Issues  An attempt was made in Old Web Application to resolve application design Issues.  3 main issues › It is not complete, only BO module was working › Build on same database which has design issues › Google Gear Technology was used that is out dated now  New Web Application is design and implemented from scratch.  We tried our best to make it as much flexible as possible to meet future requirements of post  We have tried to use up to date technologies and build it on modular approach.  Application has in build flow for each article from booking to delivery  But to accommodate existing users and some practical issues, we have also incorporated old isolated way of handling articles without any in build flow.

EMTTS(Express Mail Track and Trace System) is an application of Pakistan Post aimed to -Assist bookings. -Delivery of articles. -Tracking services for articles. -National and world wide postal tracking.

 Booking of articles  Article tracking  Timely delivery updates  Complaint Management  CRM(Customer Relationship management)

Express Post Services  UMS  EMS  FMS Express Financial Services  FMO  UMO  EMO

Currently EMTTS is a desktop application built on 2-Tier architecture. System integrations:  ep.gov.pk(POST official website)  CMS  IPS  Management Console  IPS Delivery

› Location servers :  VB6  Mysql 5.1 › Centralized server:  classic ASP (VB script)  SQL Server 2008 › Centralized web app:  ASP.NET  C#

Proposed system will be a web application based on N-tier architecture. System integrations:  CMS  ep.gov.pk  Management Portal  Call Center  IPS  IPS Delivery

› Location servers :  Asp.net  Mysql 5.1 › Centralized Web Application:  Asp.net  SQL Server 2008

Application Flows -Front End -Back End

-Booking -Bag Creation and Transmission -Article Delivery -Article Delivery update

Processes include -Defining Postal Services -User Management -Module Management -Action Management -Object Management

Booking is the preliminary process to initiate system’s processing. Variations includes: - Customer Registration - Article Booking - Bulk Booking

 The process facilitates customer’s registration with the system.  There are 2 types of registrations › Swift Registration › Detailed Registration  Swift Registration is primary target for walk in customers  Detailed Registration is mainly for cooperate Customers

Sub processes include: -Bag Sorting -Bag Verification -Bag Creation

 Bags are created at › BO(Booking Office) › DMO(District Mailing Office) › DO(Delivery Office) Note:  Bags at BO’s are categorised w.r.t services  Bags at DMO are categorised w.r.t destination DMO and Services  Bags at DO are categorised w.r.t Delivery areas

 Bags are created by the system using details of today’s booking.  Articles can be sorted with the help of sort screens.  Bags are created virtually and are graphically shown on the system.  Dispatch list of the bag is created concurrently.  A print of dispatch list is generated.

Start Get Today’s Booking Details Get Article List Sort w.r.t service Type Verify Articles Create Bag Create Dispatch List Print Dispatch List End

Article sorting is a process designed for sorting articles w.r.t to some specific location. Article sorting is done at sending DMO, receiving DMO and DO. Steps include: -Assign Article -Set article Status

-Article verification is a process to check whether the articles exists or not in the system -Virtual bags are automatically generated by the system through booking information of articles. -As the user manually scans the article barcode the respective article in virtual bag is highlighted and moves to the verified state and bag count is increased. -If the details doesn't match with the system records, bag is checked for the reason of failure.

Dispatch list contain details of all article contained in a bag. Steps -To print the dispatch list of bag,Bag Id is entered in the system. -Bag and article details are fetched from the system. -Dispatch List is created. -Print of dispatch list is created.

StartEnter Bag Id Get Bag Details Prepare Dispatch List Print Dispatch List End

Process helps to create mailing list for the bags. Variations include: Mail List Receiving

 As bags are dropped at various locations, mail list is updated respectively.  Bags dropped and received at the respective office are marked as received.  Likewise, bags which are dropped and picked for some other location are represented as transit in the mailing list(Transit bags are shown in list with lock ).  Transit bags are include in sending mail list.

 Adaptation of web based application is a challenge  Deployment of New Application all over POST may not be a good idea.  Deployment can be done in phases  Phase 1 (BO) › 24 Active BO locations will be moved from Old Application to New Application › Integration of New Application with Old Application to replicate the bookings done through New Application BO › Old Application will be kept functional as backup › This will insure smooth working of post

 Phase 2 (DMO) › Remove Old Application from All BO Locations › All Active DMO locations will be moved from Old Application to New Application › Integration of New Application with Old Application to replicate the bags related activities done through New Application › Old Application will be kept functional as backup › This will insure smooth working of post

 Phase 3 (DO) › Remove Old Application from All DMO Locations › All Active DO locations will be moved from Old Application to New Application › Integration of New Application with Old Application to replicate the bags related activities done through New Application › Old Application will be kept functional as backup › This will insure smooth working of post
