2 Shutdown work Refurbishment of transceiver power supplies Work almost finished in Orsay Small crisis 20 days ago due to late delivery of the chosen capacitors Order cancelled and new types chosen Some mechanical adjustment needed Changed also fans and check DCS cabling Tests completed beginning next week Shipping foreseen on February 17th Install as soon as they are in ECN3 Water cooling back on the 22 nd, the ventilation duct has been reinstalled (after RICH maintenance end)

3 Shutdown work Improvements in temperature monitoring (from December meeting Implement water temperature measurement in the DCS Hardware is ready, also additional temperature switches and thermistors Optimize the thresholds on the Vaisala monitor + put its power and network connections outside the CREAM racks Try to get the maximum reliability from CAEN VME fan trays (now poor) Work to be started Additional temperature/humidity sensors available in Ethernet-controlled PDUs (see next)

4 Shutdown work Ventilation units Several ventilation units were refurbished before and during the run Mainly turbine fans exchange 3 units still with old components Plan to refurbish them during the next weeks

5 Shutdown work Remote switching of CREAM crates 5 Ethernet-controlled PDUs bought (only 2 available at the stores) 4 LKr + 1 LKr L0 Add a small switch to concentrate Ethernet lines to the main switch of the EB Installation and cabling foreseen for the end of February Additional temperature/humidity monitors available

6 Firmware Multiple event data packet Second offer from CAEN arrived just before Christmas Order placed beginning of January The work has started in CAEN A first version available even this week Possible to start testing in the lab A one-week visit of the CAEN engineer foreseen on Feb 29 th. Complete test and debug in the lab and possibly on the farm

7 Firmware Test bench status (bldg 14) Restart and adjust old setup CREAM crate, VME bridge, PC, LTU system, NIM LKr pulsers, LKrL0 crate, network connections Standalone test program to read data from the CREAMs both at L0 and L1 The basis for the firmware test Easily adjustable for further tests and fw implementations

8 Firmware Tests with the PC farm Need modification to the software Unpacking fragments from the packed data Basis of the modification existing in some old Jonas’ code Started today to have a look with Giovanna Possible, but not certain, to have a working software for the end of February when CAEN will be here Anyway, the test at the farm should be done at the end of the lab test, as any firmware configuration on the whole CREAM system will take one night

9 HV distribution Split channels with high current Tried last year, without success Need to check individual spare CAEN channels Fix broken channels on single column V/I monitor Also modify full scale range to cope with higher current in central cells

10 Run control interface Improvements needed Better format for the display used to spot CREAM problems Add communication with the run control to display a message on the “Big Screen” if one CREAM blocks. And maybe a specific sound… To be started soon

11 Reconstruction & Online monitor Work started on the reconstruction Bug fixed for a clean treatment of energy assignments to the cells, rejecting cells where the maximum is in the first or last sample Re-engineer and implement in the reconstruction a private code by Giuseppe for an alternative cluster finding, leading to the recovery of clusters not found by the standard method Online monitor Add few more histograms to the actual ones
