3 Method- a way of teaching a language which is based on systematic principles and procedures, i.e., which is an application of views on how a language is best taught and learned (Longman Dictionary of Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics) A number of methods are often used, either individually, or within other methods.

4 Active teaching- an approach to teaching which seeks to increase achievement by focusing the teacher’s attention on specific , analytical, and academic objectives Attention is given to promoting student success in learning through a teacher-directed style of teaching in which the teacher provides a favorable climate for learning (Longman Dictionary of Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics)

6 Active methods : • Give the learner feedback on their incomplete understandings and encourage them by helping each other. • Give the teacher feedback on which learners understand, and who needs help • Develop thinking skills such as analysis, problem solving, and evaluation

7 • Help learners to use their learning in realistic and useful ways • Create deeper learning and higher achievement • Are more fun! Active learning is much better recalled, enjoyed and understood.
