2 The Plains Indians Homes
Tepees were home to the Plains Indians who hunted the huge buffalo herds. A Sioux tribe lived in the camp shown above.

3 What The Plains Indians Ate
The people of the great plains depended on the buffalo. After a buffalo hunt the people worked to use every part of the animal.

4 The Plains Indians Religion
The Plains Indians believed in many gods. The picture below shows a Native American worshiping one of the gods. One example would be the medicine god .

5 The Plains Indians Location
They lived between the Mississippi River and the Rocky Mountain chain which is now the interior plains.

6 The Plains Indians Clothes
Their clothes were made out of buffalo hides, rabbit fur, buckskins, and bird feathers.

7 The Plains Indians Resources
Their main resource is buffalo which they used for food, clothing, tools, and to hold drinking water in the buffalo stomach. They used bones for tools and weapons. They used buffalo chips to make fire.

8 The Plains Indians Pottery
The Plains Indians created a great variety of beautiful pottery. It was made out of mud and red dirt that was called clay. They used pottery for storing food and water.

9 The Plains Indians Communication
There are many different languages for the Plains Indians. They communicated with sign language.

10 The Plain Indians Weapons
The Plains Indians weapons were used for hunting and included spears, flint knifes, and tomahawks.

11 Summary The Plains Indians were nomadic.
They were friends to nature because they only killed what they needed. The Plains Indians used their pottery for putting food and water in it. They lived in what is now the Interior Plains. Their main resource was buffalo.
