The Quote Frame 1. Introduce the quote 2. State the quote 3. Cite the quote 4. Explain the quote and it’s relevance to the topic.

Wait a second… What does it mean to cite a quote?! To cite a quote is to give credit to your source. For example: “When two violins are placed in a room, if a chord on one violin is struck the other violin will sound the note. If this is your definition of hope, this is for you” (Gibson 1). Gibson is the author’s last name, and 1 is the page number.

Okay. I think I get it, but can I practice? Sure!

Provide an in-text citation: Quote: As long as you can find yourself, you’ll never starve. Text: The Hunger Games Author: Suzanne Collins Page number: 52

Provide an in-text citation: Quote: "That's the thing about pain," Augustus said, and then glanced back at me. "It demands to be felt." Text: The Fault in Our Stars Author: John Green Page number: 110

Provide an in-text citation: Quote: It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live. Text: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Author: J.K. Rowling Page number: 214

Great Job!! Now that you have that down, choose one of the three quotes and accurately employ The Quote Frame!
