2 PERIOD OF DEVELOPMENT FOR LINCOLN ELEMENTARY (PRE K - 6 TH GRADE  Early – Middle Child Development  (Early childhood) begins at the end of infancy (around age two) and continues until the age of five or six. Children enter Pre K around the age of five years old.  Middle Child Development (ages 6 through 11) child experience more of their surrounding and start to develop their own identity

3 A Child Development Professional - A role model that helps students become successful - Provides emotional, academic support & encourages children to strive for greatness - Provides therapy / knowledge for children, adolescents & families - Provide students and parents with policies, information that will make be - resourceful - Take into consideration of each family culture, belief, language with - Establish communication between myself & family

5 MESOSYSTEM (2 ND LEVEL OF BRONFENBRENNER’S MODEL) Urie Bronfenbrenner model was his vision of the environment that has several structures that forms a complex operation system. Each layer of the system has connection with the others that will have a powerful effect on the child’s development. The model represent the connections between microsystems : HOME, SCHOOL, NEIGHBORHOOD & CHILD CARE CENTER Relationships have a cause & affect interaction: Parents interactions at home will likely have an AFFECT on the caregiver -Each relationship is more likely to support development where there are links between home & child care Family / neighborhood connections are important for economically disadvantage children

7 Type 1- Parenting Assist with child rearing skills, helps with understanding the child’s development pertaining to their age and grade level The school or community can have Culture Day where everyone can learn about the different culture facts and what they may or may not believe in

8 Type 2- Communicating Effective communication is important for life skills as well as social skills If a child doesn’t know how to communicating, it can hurt or delay developmental skills In the classroom the teacher can teach simple word such as hello / good- bye from other cultures

9 Type 3- Volunteering Volunteering help create positive life behaviors at an early age The school / community can have volunteering programs such as keeping the park clean or donate old toys to children in need The community can also start a garden and the students will volunteer time to get in started

10 Type 4- Learning at Home Teacher can be very helpful when helping parents that have home schooling. Information such as curriculum, goals, standards to help with the homeschooling process.

11 Type 5- Decision Making Child will start being independent and become mature adults Decision making also helps the child develop confidence Families can help with PTA’s a school for upcoming events (culture day) committees or family days

12 Type 6- Collaborating with Community Collaborating with the community can help them children to learn about their surrounding and socialization skills The school can help with community projects and provide services such as volunteering
