2 The Arabian horse is the oldest known breed of riding horses
The Arabian horse is the oldest known breed of riding horses. This horse breed came from the Middle East, but is now one of the most popular breeds in America.

4 Even George Washington
The Arabian horse spread around the world, both by war and by trade. They came from countries like Saudi Arabia, but eventually the Arabian breed came to America! Even George Washington rode an Arabian horse!

5 Arabian Stallions are not all brown or black.

6 The Arabian horse is known for being smart, kind, and very strong.

7 Arabians are known for their large nostrils to help them breathe in a lot of air, which helps them run so quickly! They are also known for their big eyes, and their small head and muzzle.

An adult female horse is called a mare. The adult male is called a stallion. A foal is a horse less than one year old A colt is a young male A filly is a young female.

15 Fun Horse Facts Did you know… horses can sleep either standing or lying down. their hooves and teeth continue to grow throughout their lifetime. Arabian horses have 23 Vertebra (backbones), and other horse have 24. This is why they are known for having a shorter back than other horses.
