2 Classroom Expectations You tell me!!

3 Following expectations will result in: Earning Class Dojo points and rewards Verbal Acknowledgement A Stress-free learning environment A pleasant and orderly classroom atmosphere

4 Not following expectations will result in: Step 1 – loss of CRS point & Class Dojo point – C lassroom R esponsibility S core Step 2 – 2 nd warning or hallway Step 3 – Parent contact Step 4 – Disciplinary referral

5 Severe Clause Students who display severe disrespect or behavior will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY.

9 Privileges & rewards that can be earned with Dojo points: Teacher treats Choice of seat Study buddy Supplies Locker/LMC pass Early dismissal Use of fridge And???

10 Classroom Procedures

11 Entering the room Be prepared! Make sure you have all of the required materials for class. Please enter quietly and grab your LA binder from the wall. Sit in your assigned seat. Read the instructions on the SmartBoard for the warm-up activity, and begin working.

12 Tardies You are considered tardy if you are not in your assigned seat when the bell rings. A detention will be given after three tardies.

13 Classroom goals To further develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills To read complex texts closely – fiction and nonfiction! To write arguments, narratives, and informative texts To listen to ideas presented and participate in collaborative discussions To develop grammar, usage, mechanics, knowledge of language, and vocabulary

14 Daily Language Review Weekly packet Grammar & mechanics review –Capitalization –Punctuation –Spelling –Vocabulary –Reading comprehension –Reference skills

15 Independent Reading Goals Students will be tested at the beginning of the year to determine their independent reading level. Each student will have to read one book at their independent reading level or higher per quarter. Audio books DO count! Students will choose how they want to display & share their understanding and personal perspective gained from reading the book.

16 Finished with classwork? “I have nothing to work on.”
