2 Transport led regeneration As London’s population continues to grow, we will need to make sure we’re effectively using all parts of the Capital to accommodate our residents and create jobs for them Transport investment can bring opportunity areas into full use and regenerate areas of London – improved connections create new opportunities for local people and businesses 2

7 7 2 x 37km tunnels connecting South West and West Anglia Mainlines. A new railway running through Central London, serving several major interchanges 51 stations served directly by Crossrail 2 services High frequency: trains up to every 120 seconds (30 trains per hour) in central core Provides additional rail capacity for 270,000 people to travel into central London, per 3 hour peak Cost around £27bn The Crossrail 2 regional scheme

8 Crossrail 2 has a number of objectives - including supporting regeneration and unlocking housing growth CENTRAL LONDON Intensify and grow London’s Central Activities Zone (CAZ) by increasing employment density Reduce levels of congestion and crowding on travel services Ensure adequate connectivity between HS2 and surrounding region THE NORTH EAST Maximising housing growth and regeneration in opportunity areas like Upper Lea Valley THE SOUTH WEST Reduce levels of congestions on key services at key stations, particularly on South West Mainline LONDON AND REGION-WIDE Supporting new jobs in employment centres across London & the wider southeast Making journeys to, from, and within London more accessible, safer and well integrated Maintain and enhance environmental quality Accommodate housing growth across London and wider region

9 9 Crossrail 2’s immediate interaction with Growth Areas Crossrail 2 Regional Scheme will serve number of existing major growth areas*: Opportunity Areas (39,000 homes / 148,000 jobs) Upper Lea Valley (20,000 homes / 15,000 jobs) City Fringe (9,000 homes / 70,000 jobs) Kings Cross (1,900 homes / 25,000 jobs) Euston (4,000 homes / 14,000 jobs) Waterloo (2,500 homes / 15.000 jobs) Tottenham Court Rd (500 homes / 5,000 jobs) Victoria (1,000 homes / 4,000 jobs) Areas of Intensification (2,300 homes / 2,500 jobs) Haringey Heartlands / Wood Green (1,000 homes / 2,000 jobs) South Wimbledon / Colliers Wood (1,300 homes / 500 jobs) Housing Zones (13,500 homes) Clapham Junction (5,300 Homes) Meridian Water (3,700 Homes) Tottenham (2,000 Homes ) Blackhorse Lane (2,500 Homes) Key Regional Growth Locations Park Plaza (~40ha employment land?)
