3 The Importance of Being Earnest Page 1: Lady Bracknell says that Gwendolen cannot marry Jack because Jack has no idea who his parents were. He was found by a man in a cloakroom. Miss Prism is Cecily’s tutor. Jack is in charge of taking care of Cecily. Both Cecily and Miss Prism believe that Jack as a brother named Ernest.

4 The Importance of Being Earnest Page 2: Dr. Chasuble and Miss Prism take a walk. Algernon shows up and says to Cecily that he is Jack’s brother Ernest. Cecily and Ernest flirts.

5 The Importance of Being Earnest Page 3: Jack comes back, and he tells Dr. Chasuble and Miss Prism that his brother Ernest has passed away. Cecily emerges from the house and says that Uncle Jack’s brother Ernest has appeared.

8 The Importance of Being Earnest Page 6-7: Jack tells Algernon to leave. Algernon says he will leave if Jack changes his clothes. These pages are poking fun at the vanity of Victorian society.

9 The Importance of Being Earnest Pages 7-9 Summarize what you have just read on your worksheet. Write in complete sentences. Capitalize the beginning of sentences and punctuate the end. Proofread your work. Check every sentence to make sure it is not a run-on or fragment. Make sure it is correctly punctuated.
