3. Flood – The view of the bridge before the flood, which stroke Třebíč on 1 st February 1862. The origin- The bridge had been here since the necessity of the connection of the inner town and Podklášteří (a cloister´s area) appeared. Toll – In the picture, you can see a crossing gate, where the toll was collected.

4. The appearance and the function of the bridge The bridge used to be narrow and was used only for vehicles not for foot.The bridge was wooden and lower than today. There were no pavements and it was full of mud and dust. One statue was standing on each side of the bridge those times. The Statues The statues of St. John of Nepomuk and St. Procopius were taken away by the flood.

5. The Town Hall Shops In the picture you can see an iron bridge in Podklášteří, a part of Podklášteří a nd a part of Jewish town, called Zamostí today. In 1873 a fire spread from Podklášteří, continued over the wooden bridge into the town. In 1874 a new iron bridge with two arches was built. This bridge was removed in 1929 and a new bridge was built between 1930 - 1931.

6. The bridge was named after the first Czechoslovak pre s ident – T.G.Masaryk Bridge. The connection between Podklášteří area and the town was completed in 1944. Some shops used to be on the right side of the bridge near the statue of St. John Nepomuk. These Jewish shops were removed in 1952.
