5 Game Plan (Training Phases) Understand personnel Give jumpers a say Develop it well in advance Train to get ready to train (March GPP) Competitions and more specialized training (April SPP) Be fresh, focused, ready to win in May (CPP) *Remember they aren’t CC kids!!!

6 Day 1 Sets the tone early Explain the plan (daily, weekly, monthly, and phases) Sense of ownership Test the athletes Get right to the training (time is ticking)

7 Practice Jump specific warm up Technical work before running workouts Rarely do we do full LJ’s or TJ’s Find commonalities in training jumping events Break down events into small units (progression) Don’t coach too much on aspects that come natural Individual designed workouts Coach!!!

8 Meets Weather Warmup Approaches Jump first or wait? During the event tactics How many jumps? (High Jump?) Teach how to compete How to deal with pressure at a big meet
