2 Definition of Material Flow
Material flow means organized material movement in production process or in circulation. It is characterized by direction, intensity, frequentation, length and performance, structure and character of carried material, transport and handling technology.

3 Definition of Material Flow
Material flow is controlled material movement generally carried out by handling, transport, transfer and supply vehicles and devices [Logistika - magazine].

4 System Laying Out of Materials Flows (SLMF)
SLMF is organized system approach solving the materials movement in logistics chain. It consists of 4 basic stages: 1. stage – solving external transport connection (business), 2. stage – solving the material transport and handling between business objects, 3. stage – solving internal business material transport and handling, 4. stage – solving the background and physical execution of project.

5 1. stage It is about designed connection of external transport systems with logistics objects (transport points) in business area.

6 1. stage There are confronting specific problems of laying out objects with external business problems and conditions, each other. They can (can not) be affected by design solution. There can be for example achieved the change of way or railway connections for internal joining the transport and handling to external one.

7 2. stage It is focused on working-out the basic technology design of the material movement between the objects. There is chosen basic logistics system, handling and transfer units, basic kinds of transport and handling devices etc.

8 3. stage It contains the development of detailed suggestion of materials handling. It solves the materials movement between particular points inside the main objects and surfaces. In this stage there is more detailed solving the system of semi operation and operation handling.

9 4. stage It deals with the methods of project implementation. By this stage, the logistic project of materials handling could be finished only after installing and testing whole system.

10 4. stage There is work our the process plan and implementation. By this plan will be supply the final instantiation of the complete handling system. Then, there will be test of running and checking of suggested ways of handling and transport processes including the control of particulars elements safety and whole materials handling system.

11 Algorithm SLMF It consist of logical sequence of project operations beginning the exhausting analysis the data of solving problems, the design effective technology of materials movement in whole business and finishing by success economic useful realization.

12 Algorithm SLMF The basic input data of SLMF are:
P – product, material, Q – quality, quantity, R – production process, the material movement in the area and time S – service, e.g. input purchasing in to the production process, assurance of machines and devices maintenance etc. T – time, e. g. operation terms, term of production or transport circle etc.

13 The Scheme of Algorithm SLMF

14 1. unit The laying out starts by analysis and classification of materials characteristics. There is a recognition of materials types and their physical facilities, weight and shape characteristics, amount, frequency of materials inputs and outputs (terms, cycles) and special requests and conditions of movement execution way.

15 2. unit Contains the analysis and figuration of material movement. These records are using for lay out of objects and business disposal solution. The way of material movement analysis depends on quantity and measure of range of goods composition of materials flow. The simplest graphical methods are. Schemes of materials flow, diagrams of distance and material flow intensity.

16 3. unit There is variant choice of technologies for transfer and handling processes. The variants include particulars criteria's of solving design. There is necessary quantification their basic parameter e. g. amount and size of handling units, amount and machine and devices capacity, operations terms, frequency of transfer and handling circles, delivery terms, invest and proper costs etc.

17 4. unit The valuation of variant designs – their reciprocating comprise and valuation and parameter quantification, costs and specific indicators. Generally there is used pointed or qualification methods and choice the most suitable (the most effective) variants or combination two or more solutions.
