A WORD ABOUT TIME LIMITS… One board member is designated as the time keeper The time they record is honored by the entire board This means if you blow your time limit you will automatically have to redo your speech since all board members will have to record a “developing” in the time column of the rubric There is no rule against keeping time for yourself. A stopwatch at the podium can save you a lot of stress!
9
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO ENSURE SUCCESS?
10
READ PAGES 37-39 IN THE SENIOR PROJECT HANDBOOK ADVICE FOR BOARDS PREPARATION

LET’S FOCUS ON YOUR INTRO… Grab the attention of your board while being pertinent to your topic. For a hook: a quotation, fact, reading, dramatic, joke, survey or other audience participation, demonstration, or question It could discuss your general interest/background in the topic of your project, how you decided to do this project, or what your vision of this project was. Thesis: Make a clear, general point about what you did and learned. Pause after your thesis before you start the body of your speech. It should be no longer than 60 seconds. Write your introduction word for word and memorize it for a confident start.
12
THE ASSIGNMENT FOR THIS LESSON… Write out your intro, word for word. Practice reading it aloud and time yourself to make sure that it is in the 30-45 second range. Upload it to your www.schoology.com drop box for this lesson.www.schoology.com Also upload it to the Class Discussion: April Senior Project Speech Intro by 4/28. Review and give feedback on two of your classmates’ intros by 4/30. Please be very specific with your suggestions.

IT’S IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THE FINE PRINT… Successful completion of an approved Senior Project is required to earn a Camas High School diploma CHS has strict requirements and standards for the Senior Project Failure to complete the RSVP Senior Project will jeopardize your on-time graduation
