Was your talk within the time limits? Was your topic appropriate for this assignment? Did you present accurate information? Were your slides related to your text and did they reinforce your points? Were there any misspellings or grammatical errors in your slides? Did you appear to be fully knowledgeable on the topic? Were you adequately prepared? 3 3 Presentation Tips  You will need to rehearse  Practice your presentation until you are comfortable with it, then present the talk to a family member or a friend.  If you have a tape recorder, record your talk and listen to it carefully, making any necessary improvements.  It will help if you memorize both your opening sentence and your closing sentence. 4 4 Presentation Tips  Organize your talk with an opening, body, and conclusion.  Your talk needs a clear beginning, so try to create an interesting opening sentence that will capture the audience’s attention and help them want to hear more.  Do not use a joke as an opening.  The body of your talk should include the facts about your topic.  In the body of your talk, state your point. Say it again in different words, illustrate the point, and state it once more so that the audience understands. Then move on to the next point. Toastmasters International

5 5 Presentation Tips  Know your topic  Limit your talk to only 3–4 main points.  Study your topic thoroughly so that you know more about it than you will present in your talk.  Do not overwhelm your audience by trying to present too much information.  If you think that you will need notes, write brief notes on 3x5 cards that you can place on the table. Toastmasters International

6 6 Presentation Tips  Tips for presenting your talk:  If you get nervous, pause and take a deep breath. No one will notice a little quavering in your voice, and that will disappear as you become involved with your presentation.  Face the audience while you are speaking  Make eye contact with various members in the audience.  Be aware of the time so that you can move to your conclusion before the time runs out. Toastmasters International

7 7 Presentation Tips  Appearance is important.  Be well groomed and appropriately dressed for your presentation.  When you look right, you feel good about yourself.  You will feel more confident if you know that you have made a good first impression on your audience.
