2.  2 controlled assessments 30% each  1 exam 40%

3.  Controlled assessment  Work individually to produce a portfolio containing an assignment and production piece based on two texts  Can be a written essay, power point or podcast  Focuses on key concepts of media language and representation  Can be based on pop music, celebrity, soap opera or video games

4.  Exam – 1 hour 45 minutes  can be either moving image or print  Split into 2 sections: analysis and response to an unseen media extract; response based on understanding of institutions and audiences

5.  Controlled assessment  Either working individually or as part of a group produce a major practical production in response to a brief  Assessment is based on skills in research, planning, construction and evaluation
