4 Unit assessment: Creation and Production OutcomeAssessment Standards Produce complex and sophisticated written texts by: 1.1 Selecting significant ideas, using a form and structure appropriate to purpose and audience 1.2 Applying knowledge and understanding of language and language choice 1.3 Critically reflecting on the development of their writing

5 Course assessment Question Paper 1 – Literary Study One critical essay from a range of literary genres: poetry, prose fiction, prose non-fiction, drama Length: one and a half hours Marks: 20 Question Paper 2 – Textual Analysis One response to an unseen extract from a range of literary genres: poetry, prose fiction, prose non-fiction, and drama Length: one and a half hours Marks: 20 Portfolio: Writing Two pieces of original writing produced by the candidate from the following types: persuasive, informative, argumentative, personal/reflective, poetry, prose fiction, drama Marks: 30 (15 + 15) Project: DissertationOne Dissertation on a literary aspect of the candidate’s choosing, 2,500 to 3,000 words in length Marks: 30

6 Key points of change  No set texts for Literary Study  Textual Analysis and Portfolio are now compulsory  For Portfolio, any two types of writing from list acceptable  No genre restrictions for Textual Analysis and Literary Study  New word count for Dissertation
