3 P.R.I.C.E. The P.R.I.C.E. Method Protect the inured part by keeping it still. Rest the affected joint for 24 to 48 hours. Ice the injured part to reduce swelling and pain. Compress the injured area by wrapping it. Elevate the injured part above the level of the heart.
