An Ideal School What should it be?

Education Education is one of the most important parts in our life. Without it you won’t be an intelligent person. You should educate yourself through your life. But the basis of your development is given at school. So, good education is essential for a modern person. Good education consists of proper curriculum and excellent conditions. An ideal school should have both.

My School In the first place, I’d like to tell you about my school. It was founded on July 12 in So, as you can see, it is more than fifty years old. Since its first years our school has become one of the most advanced and popular schools in Oryol. All these years it has been the first in many competitions. The children who studied in the school are well-educated and, as a result, very successful in life.

Our teachers Our school is the best because our teachers are the best. All of them are very kind, skillful, clever and understanding. They make our studying interesting and exciting. Though, sometimes it can be very hard. Each form has a form tutor. They take care of their pupils like school mothers.

The School Building My school isn't very big. It has four floors. The ground floor is for a canteen, a gym and a cloak-room. Primary school is situated on the first floor. And on the other floors there are classrooms for different subjects. All in all, there are 31 classroms in the school. There is a stage on the third floor. All the concerts, Prize Givings and parties are held there. The technology classroom is in a separate building.

Disadvantages of our school
Our school is the best for me. I have been studying here for almost eight years. Nevertheless, it is not an ideal one. At first, it is rather small. 31 classrooms isn’t enough for all the pupils. Last Saturday it happened so that we didn't have a classroom and we had to study in a canteen. Then, our gym is tiny. Now we have three PE lessons a week and we have to run and jump with two other classes. A surprising fact is that there are 50 cm2 per pupil in it. It isn’t enough, is it? More than that, our gym isn't fitted with everything necessary. And we have little variety to do during our PE lessons. Finally, the menu in our canteen isn't varied. I wish we had more salads, fruit and deserts.

Education in Britain Most people think that British education is the most progressive. In fact, the system of education there is far more different than in Russia. There are many types of schools in Britain. They are different not only in curriculum, but also in funding and status. The types are: nursery schools, primary schools and secondary schools; comprehensive schools and private school; voluntary schools, church schools and self-governing schools, secondary modern schools, grammar schools and City Technology Colleges (CTCs). My favourite type is an independent school. I think that the best education is given there, that's why the price is very high.

Private Schools Private schools is the most expensive type of schools in the country. They are often hundreds of years old. Every school has a motto and a coat of arms. Public schools still produce the rulers of British society. Since 1944 free education has been available to all children in Britain. However some parents choose to pay for private education. The Government has made it easier for parents to choose an independent education by offering assisted places in 300 independent schools to children of parents with low incomes. But to my mind, the school has a great disadvantage. If you study at such a school, you will have to live without your parents for weeks. And I can't live without them.

An Ideal Combination Still, a private school provides brilliant education and you can study some subjects on an advanced level. Alongside the academic programme, students are able to take a variety of qualifications to a high level in areas such as riding, dance and musical theatre. In such schools there is always a good sports centre with a large swimming pool, an Art centre and a big garden with plenty of different plants. And of course, we can't forget about the discipline which is strict in private schools. I think if you put together the advantages of my school and of a private school, you will get an ideal school.

What Should an Ideal School Be?
Let's finish and answer this question. I think that an ideal school: MUST GIVE GOOD EDUCATION must have skillful, clever and understanding teachers should let children choose core subjects should have a space building with five or six floors should have a large gym with everything necessary and a swimming pool should have a canteen with varied menu should take part in different competitions
