3 Direct Objects What is the subject, the verb, the direct object? 1. I want that skirt. 2. I bought some shoes.

4 Direct Object Pronouns Direct object pronouns take the place of the direct object in a sentence. For example:

5 Direct Object Pronouns Instead of saying, “I want that skirt,” you can say, “I want it.” The word “it” takes the place of the word “skirt.”

7 Direct Object Pronouns (Spanish) me(me) te(you) lo(him or it) la(her or it) nos(us) vos (you all inf.) los (them, you all) las (them, you all)

8 Placement of Direct Object Pronouns Direct Object Pronouns, me, te, lo, la, nos, los and las are placed either before a conjugated verb or attached to the end of an infinitive.

9 Before the Conjugated Verb: Cuándo compraste la falda? La compré hace cinco días.

10 Before the Conjugated Verb Isabel, tienes mi suéter? No, no lo tengo.

11 Before the Conjugated Verb Compras esos pantalones? No, no los compro.

12 Before the verb or after the infinitive: Before the verb: Quieres comprar esa falda? Sí, la quiero comprar. After the infinitive: Quieres comprar esa falda? Si, quiero comprarla.

13 Direct Object Pronouns When the pronoun replaces both a masculine and a feminine dircect object noun, we use los. For example:

14 Direct Object Pronouns Cuándo compraste la falda y el vestido? Los compré el sábado.

15 Reading/Writing Practice (class) Reading 1. Comemos pizza. 2. Bailamos Hip Hip en la clase. 3. Visitamos el zoologico. Writing 4. We read the book. 5. She puts on the shoes. 6. I swim in the pool.

16 Speaking practice (small group) Everyone will ask someone: Do you have the______? You choose what to ask about. Everyone will answer the question they were asked with the following answer: Yes, I have “it or them”. Choose the correct DOP!
