2 MEMBERSHIP Cheerleaders are expected to set a good example and be leaders at CMS. Maximum 20 cheerleaders per grade level

3 Practice and Games 7 th Practice: Monday 3:45-4:45; Tuesday 3:45-5:30 Games: Football – Monday 5:00-8:30 Basketball – Monday or Thursday 5:30-7:30 8 th Practice: Monday 4:45-5:45; Friday 3:45-5:45 Games: Football – Tuesday 5:00-8:30 Basketball – Monday or Thursday 5:30-7:30 Games and times are subject to change.

4 Duties of a CMS Cheerleader Games Pep rallies Signs and spirit items Ambassador (registration) Fundraising Attendance is required for each practice and event.

5 Attendance Eligibility NO MORE THAN 10 ABSENCES IN ANY ONE CLASS PERIOD

6 CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS BEFORE JUDGES The categories to be judged using a 1 – 5 ranking – showmanship – dance – motions – technique – jumps – tumbling will be judged using a 0 – 5 ranking. There are 3 judges that are not affiliated with GCISD.

7 Tryout Preparation Forms Due Letter of Agreement Medical Waiver for Tryouts Student Evaluation Form Report Card (1st Semester) Friday, February 20, 2015 *no later than 3:30 p.m. To a sponsor Tryout Clinic Candidates must wear workout clothes and cheer or tennis shoes. Last workshop will be a practice tryout which may last until 5:30 pm. March 2 th – March 5 th 3:45 – 5:15 pm CMS North gym All workshops are closed practices.

8 Tryouts Friday, March 6, 2015 CMS cafeteria 6th grade report at 4:00 pm 7th grade report at 6:30 pm Results will be posted on the CMS cheer website no later than 10pm. Times are subject to change due to the amount of candidates. All tryouts are closed sessions.

9 Scores Scores and comments from the judges can be reviewed by parents by making an appointment with the Principal. Ties will be broken by reviewing grade point averages. The candidate with the highest GPA will be considered the winner.

10 Cheerleader Expenses Uniforms/ Camp clothes: $1,000 Choreography: $45 a month Camp: $400 Booster club fee: $50 Misc.: competition fees Social Events and other activities These figures are approximate.
