3  Informs both the parent and cheerleader of all rules and regulations one must follow if they are apart of the cheer program  We encourage cheerleaders to participate in other school activities, however, those activities must not conflict with their cheer obligations  Guidelines take place from the try-out selection day until the end of the following school year  All candidates will be required to take and pass a guidelines test on March 24 th. Anyone who does not pass the test will not be allowed to try-out or participate in the try-out clinic. ALVIN ISD CHEER GUIDELINES

5  Try-out practice: March 24 th -26 th from 4:30-6:00 pm  Attire: White shirt with name on front and back, black shorts, spandex under shorts, and tennis shoes (sole must be white)  Try-outs: March 27 th starting at 4:45 pm  Attire: Solid white shirt (NO NAMES), black shorts, spandex under shorts, and tennis shoes (sole must be white)  Material – Conditioning, Motions, Dance, Jumps, Cheer TRY-OUTS

6  Squad Make Up  Varsity Composed of a minimum of 12 members and maximum of 16 members Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores only  Junior Varsity Composed of a minimum of 12 members and maximum of 16 members Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshman only If your cheerleader does not want to be considered for Junior Varsity please see us at the end of the meeting  Results All results will be posted after the completion of try outs on the door You have 3 school days to request a meeting with coaches and/or view your cheerleader’s results TRY-OUTS

7  Guidelines, Application, and Letter of Intent Due March 10 th Last page signed by both Guardian and Cheerleader  Extra-Curricular Code of Conduct Please cross this section off the checklist  Report Card Must be 1 st SEMESTER (2014-2015 school year) Due March 10 th  Money $20 Insurance Fee and $10 Try-Out Fee Due March 10 th TRY-OUT PAPERWORK (DUE MARCH 10 TH )

8  Physicals Hard copies will be made available no later than March 13 You must have your physician fill out the hardcopy for the 2015-2016 season. We will not accept any physicals not on the MHS hard copy!! 2 copies of actual physical are needed (1 for coaches and 1 for trainers ) Due March 24 th TRY-OUT PAPERWORK

9  Teacher Evaluation 4 core teachers (Math, Science, History, English) 1 elective (not cheer sponsor) Due March 12 th by 3pm All middle school teachers should turn their evaluations into campus cheer sponsor  Assistant Principal Evaluation TRY-OUT PAPERWORK (DUE BY TEACHERS)

10 TRY-OUT SCORES A.P. Evaluation = 10% of overall score Teacher Evaluation = 10% of overall score Coach’s Points = 20% of overall score Judges Points = 60% of overall score

11  New to MHS Cheer Attendance, Dress, Grades, and Short Interview  Current Cheerleader at MHS and Current Cheerleader at Jr. High’s Current Sponsor Evaluation Participation, Attitude, Performance, Grades COACH’S POINTS

12 JUDGE’S POINTS  Cheer Total of 13 points  Dance Total of 17 points  Jumps Total of 10 points Toe touch is a double toe touch  Tumbling Total of 20 points Standing Tumbling is a toe-touch back handspring Running Tumbling includes back handsprings, back tucks, etc. (no cartwheels or round offs only allowed)

13 ESTIMATE OF COST (CHEERLEADER)  Estimated Cheer Cost 2015 Estimated Cheer Cost 2015 Prices are based on a female participant and may be slightly higher for a male participant. The total does NOT include shipping, sales tax, and any additional items that your cheerleader/mascot wishes to purchase.*

14 ESTIMATE OF COST (MASCOT) Mascots are responsible for camp, camp clothes (subtract $85), camp transportation, warm-up jacket and pants, and team long sleeve. Mascots are also required to have the mascot uniform dry-cleaned after football and basketball season.

15  Spring Practice ( dates listed on 1 st page)  Summer Practice ( dates listed on 1 st page)  Football Season The varsity squad will be required to attend all district varsity games (home and away) and any playoff games. The JV squad will be required to attend all district JV or freshman games (home only) and 3 varsity football games. The varsity games will be the first home game, homecoming, and senior night.  Basketball Season Both squads will support home games for both boys and girls varsity basketball. Varsity will be required to attend any playoff games. COMMITMENT

17  Uniform with designated spanks  Hair in a high pony tail. Only elastic headbands that match your hair color  No nail polish or acrylic nails  No jewelry (including belly rings, cartilage, etc.)  Undergarments should be a natural color or the same color as the uniform. No bra straps should be showing. Sports bra only!!!!  Cheer Shoes and white socks only!  Cheerleaders will follow the schedule for practice clothes.  Hair will be pulled back and out of face.
