1 CACL for MACLS Information and Training Session Saturday 12 November 2005 MACLS - Rochester Centre 10:00-12:00 “The purpose of this project is to create and develop authentic E-learning materials for our modern foreign languages (MFL) programme to be used in the classroom.” Content for Adult Community Learning(CACL) for Medway Adult and Community Learning Service (MACLS)

3 Introduction The aim of this session is to: –learn or practice using electronic equipment in a classroom situation; –test out and give feedback on some simple exercises for the classroom; and –work as a group to develop material that can be shared in the classroom. The purpose of this project is for MFL (and EFL) tutors to: learn how to use IT in the class learn how to develop eLearning material; test it in the classroom; find ways share information about electronic resources; and explore and understand the role of new technology in the classroom.

4 Medway and CACL-2 Project The final bid “The purpose of this project is to create and develop authentic E- learning materials for our modern foreign languages (MFL) programme to be used in the classroom.” Our critical friend - Dorset Adult Education Service ”Introduce and train tutors in the MFL department to use data projectors and laptops as part of their teaching resource to develop their own teaching materials.”

6 Why E-Learning? –adapted to different learning styles –multi-sensorial –materials can be easily shared and re-used –materials can be updated (real, authentic) –motivating for students –….. u Most effective when combined with traditional teaching methods. –and no dreaded queue for the photocopier!!!!
