3 Socialism Everyone owns a portion of the state, but the state still runs on a limited market economy. Hugo Chavez and Tony Blair are socialists. Most European Countries are Socialist Democracies

4 Communism Everyone owns a portion of the state and there is no class division. There is no wage labor or private property. All forms of communism involve a dissolution of the social classes. Josef Stalin, Vladimir Lenin, and Mao Zedong are all communists.

5 Radicalism Radical leftists are people who are generally considered to be so liberal that they are ahead of the curve of social norms. Examples of radicals in their time: Enlightenment Thinkers, Abolitionists, and Hippies.

6 Fascism An authoritarian style government that focuses on putting the nation-state above ones self. Some characteristics include: an emphasis on military service, limited civil rights, and “super” nationalism. Hitler and Mussolini were fascists.

7 Militarists An authoritarian government style that focuses compulsory military service, little to no civil rights, and an eagerness for warfare. Notable militarists include Sparta, The Roman Empire, And Japan during WWII

8 Reactionism An ideology that espouses the desire to return to a former way of life that is more conservative. Reactionists shun social progressivism in all forms. Notable reactionists include The Ayatollah Khomeini, The czarists in Soviet Russia, and the Tories after the American Revolution.

9 Moderates A moderate sits right in the middle of the spectrum borrowing from both sides. Most people fall into the moderate category…because it is based on issues Notable moderates include John McCain, and Bill Clinton
