3 What is the UNIA-ACL The Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities (Imperial) League (UNIA-ACL) is a Black nationalist fraternal organization founded by Marcus Garvey.

4 Why did he create Garveyism? What is it? Garveyism is a religion of success, inspiring millions of African Americans worldwide who sought relief from racism.

5 What did the UNIA-ACL do ? Marcus Garvey and his organization, the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA), represent the largest mass movement in African-American history. Proclaiming a black nationalist "Back to Africa" message, Garvey and the UNIA established 700 branches in thirty-eight states by the early 1920s.

6 Why was he deported back to Jamaica? He was deported back to jamaica because he was convicted of mail fraud.

7 What is mail fraud? Mail fraud is a federal crime by nature, as using the postal service to advance a criminal attempt necessarily involves the federal government. There is a relatively clear statute in existence that defines mail fraud, and each of the two required elements is explained below. In order to commit mail fraud, the defendant must: Have devised some sort of scheme to defraud others Used the mail to advance the efforts of that fraud.

8 Marcus Garvey Marcus Garvey and his group the UNIA was happening during the 1920’s.He is important because of his determination to fight for the African Americans. He was a public speaker ans was a big part of the Black nationalist movement which then he created the UNIA.

9 How did Marcus Garvey affect African Americans? He fought for the african americans and he supported them,the Universal Negro Improvement Associating and African Communities League also helped them out.
