Purpose The reason for doing the procedure The purpose of this experiment is to examine the effects of soaking beans in water for 24hrs.

Hypothesis : Your own opinion as to what the outcome of the experiment will be as well as why you think that. If I soak beans in water for 24hrs then they will increase in width, length, height, volume, and mass.

Materials : List all the materials Dixie cup Pipette Tap water balance 50ml cylinder Paper towels 5 beans RulerPencilBeaker

Procedure : This should be written in such a matter that someone else who is not familiar with the activity could follow the directions and get the same results.

Procedure Day one  Number 5 beans 1-5 with a pencil.  Measure the length and width of each bean with a ruler (use Millimeters)  Fill a graduated cylinder to the 10 ml mark.  Add all five beans to the graduated cylinder. To determine the volume of the beans, see how many ml the water raised (make sure to subtract the 10ml you started with).  Dry your beans with a paper towel. Record the weight of each ban using a scale or balance.  Place all five beans in a cup, write your name on the cup and fill it with 15ml of water. (This will be stored overnight).

Day two  Remove the beans from the water and record their length and width on the data table.  Record the volume of the five beans (use 30ml of water)  Record the weight of the five beans  Split a ban in half, and use a pipette to put a drop of iodine on the bean. Describe what happens in the table. Procedure

Data: Any quantitative or qualitative data will be included here. This includes charts and graph or personal observations if needed. Day One Day Two WidthLengthWidthLength Bean 1 Bean 2 Bean 3 Bean 4 Bean 5 Volume of all 5 beans Weight of all 5 beans Iodine Test Data

Conclusion: This is a complete analysis of your data. It is only a description of what happened. You should use as much research as possible in this section. Your hypothesis should also be referenced in this section. Any possible extensions to make the experiment better should be included here.

According to the data the beans almost doubled in size. The length and width of bean 1 was __________ and _________ before and ___________ and _________ after soaking in water: Conclusion:

Conclusion Bean 2 was __________ and _________ before and ___________ and _________ after soaking in water:

Conclusion Bean 3 was __________ and _________ before and ___________ and _________ after soaking in water:

Conclusion Bean 4 was __________ and _________ before and ___________ and _________ after soaking in water:

Conclusion Bean 5 was __________ and _________ before and ___________ and _________ after soaking in water.

Conclusion The volume before soaking was ________ and after soaking ___________. The weight before soaking was _______ and after soaking __________.

This data supports my hypothesis that beans soaked in water for 24hrs. Will increase in length, width, volume, and mass. Another a experiment I could perform is to see if ________ will cause beans to increase in length, width, volume, and mass. Conclusion:
