The way that managers/leaders deal with their staff is known as their Management Style Sometimes Management Styles are categorised: Autocratic Paternalistic Democratic Laissez – Faire Situation Leadership Looking at the words can you Tell anything about what these management styles involve?

21 Autocratic Autocratic managers are Authoritarian
They tell employees what to do and expect them to follow instructions They tend to use top down communication

22 Paternalistic a Paternalistic leader works by acting as a father figure by taking care of their subordinates as a parent would. In this style of leadership the leader supplies complete concern for his followers or workers. In return he receives the complete trust and loyalty of his people.

23 Democratic Democratic managers like to involve employees in decisions (Consultative) They listen to ideas and encourage staff to contribute Communication tends to be 2 way

Laissez – Faire managers give staff direction but allow them autonomy in how they achieve tasks
