2 Success & Retention Percentage of students with a transfer goal: Spring 201448% Fall 2014 57% Overall retention rate among all students is 70% Fall 2014 898 student attended the orientation 54% have transfer goal The retention rate among this group is 63% in fall 2015 Fall 2015 834 students attended the orientation 40% students have Transfer goal

3 Transfer Data  UC applicants same as 2014 but number of admitted students increased by 16.85%  ADT increased by 101%  TAG decreased by 18% in Fall 2015

8 Transfer Admission Reality CSU System Campuses are impacted Selection criteria beyond Admission requirements Point System Out of Service Area – GPA 3.78 UC System 2:1 ratio - high school vs. Transfer Students Selective majors Higher standards – higher GPA, completion of major preparations – GPA for Major Prep. The COST!!!!

9 What Do We Need?  We need to close the gap  Keep up with the changes at the universities  Make our students more Transfer Savvy How?  Implement Case Management  Creating cohorts by major and years of attendance  Develop activities specific to the cohorts  Follow up with students’ academic Status  Develop additional transfer opportunities such as Concurrent enrollment and Transfer Admission Guarantee with Private and out of State universities

11 Transfer Program Supervisor o Follow up with the changes in state-wide policies and Requirements related to transfer and articulations o Provide information to counselors and students o Transfer Center Newsletter o Create flyers and brochures o Coordinate transfer related activities such as: college fairs, Transfer Achievement Ceremony, the university representatives visits and their activities on campus, and transfer outreach activities, and workshops o Develop and Conduct Transfer workshops o Assist students with the application process o Review admission personal statements o Assist students with the appeal process o UC TAG o Administer the TAG o Review, follow up and submit TAGs o AA-T/AS-T (ADT) Degree o Create and update the degree petitions o Review and Follow up with students o Verifying AA-T/AS-T degree petitions o Collect the Transfer Data o Update and maintain Web page o Maintaining the Transfer Center Library to of catalog and other transfer related publications o Program review and SLOs o Budget o Complete the annual mandatory State Report for Transfer Program. o Attend Related Conferences and webinars o Chairing Transfer Center Advisory Board o Support counseling and instructional faculty and collaborate with other departments in Students Services o Review and update the External Examination for the college catalog o Attending standing committees such as: o Curriculum Committee o Honors Transfer Program o SSPC o Career Advisory Board o International Student Advisory Board o Emails and correspondence/follow up: o Students o universities, colleges and State o District, Administrators, Faculty, and Staff Additional professional activities: o Co-Chair of Transfer Center Directors Region 3 and 4 o Member of state-wide Transfer Center Director Representative Regional Committee

15 Need:  Identify Transfer Students and compile the data  Coordinate Case management and Follow up with students  Develop and coordinate the in-reach activities  Classroom Presentation  Assist with the Transfer Center Workshops  Assist/coordinate Transfer events  Provide information to students  Use database to enter, modify, retrieve online data to compose, format, and prepare correspondence, surveys, brochures, flyers, bulletins, reports, presentations, and other materials  Compile supporting documents/data Program Services Coordinator Full-time – 12 months Costs about $ 58,092.00 per year

16 Future Plans  In compliances with new Student Success initiatives (SB1456) plan to guide students to be become more focused with their transfer path  Increase students awareness of transfer options, and guide them through the process  Prepare them to be competitive candidates  To create transfer guide for students based on their majors, academic levels, and transfer goal and provide targeted information  Collaboration with Faculty and student Services to develop new Transfer opportunities  Increase Transfer Rate
