1 Lincoln-Hubbard After School Activities Winter 2016 Dear Parents, On behalf of the Lincoln- Hubbard PTO, we are pleased to announce the Winter 2016 After School Activities! These activities are a great way for your child/children to explore something new, make new friends and have fun! The Winter schedule consists of some old favorites, as well as a couple of new ones. Once again, L-H teacher involvement helps to make these programs a success and we are so grateful for their time and support. Please feel free to contact us with any questions. 3 Monday Classes GolfInstructor: Nick Meltzer Grades 1-3 Cost: $140 TGA makes it convenient and fun for your child to learn and play golf! The curriculum has been specially designed by industry-leading golf professionals and education specialists to ensure that the lesson plans are age-appropriate and easy to understand and retain. Students will experience a mix of golf instruction, rules and etiquette lessons, educational components, character development lessons and physical activity as they advance through the five-level program. Tuesday Classes Floor HockeyInstructor: Mr. Simmons Grades 1-2 Cost: $110 The class will include lead up skills that include stick handling, passing, shooting, positioning and game concepts. Following skill work each class will play 6 on 6 Hockey Games! Little Bakers Instructor: Smartycat Kids Grades 1-2 Cost: $120 During this class, students will learn how to measure, mix, and bake as they follow fun recipes, and also how to use a variety of decorating tools and techniques that transform our cupcakes and mini cakes into edible works of art! Hooked on Books!Instructor: Ms. Butera Grade 1-2 Cost: $110 Hooked on Books! Come join Miss Butera for ASA’s Hooked on Books! Here’s your chance to read a favorite or brand new book as we gather with our L-H readers for an afterschool reading book club. Students will choose their books based on a selection, create their clubs, begin their journey of meeting new characters; as we become an afterschool community of readers and take conversation to a whole new level. A simple and enjoyable way to build friendships with other book lovers. Robotics Instructor: International Ivy Grades 3-5 Cost: $165 This program is all about having fun tinkering with technology and designing and constructing engineering projects. Students will work on a wide range of projects that include everything from constructing structures and machines from scrap materials to programming robots.

4 Tuesday Classes (continued) ScrapbookingInstructor: Ms. Fano Grades 3-5 Cost: $110 Have you ever wondered what scrapbooking is all about? Do you want to remember the details about your favorite events? Come join Miss Fano to learn everything you need to know about scrapbooking! In this class you will be taught the basic skills you will need to create your first scrapbook! By the end, you will get to bring home your own completed scrapbook to share with your family and friends! Wednesday Classes Fitness for KidsInstructor: Carolyn Semler Grades 3-5 Cost: $115 Classes will provide 60 minutes of fun and engaging activities for all levels of youth fitness. All weekly sessions will include cardiovascular training, agility, strength, flexibility and balance. Children will be reminded that physical activity and sports are a part of developing a healthy lifestyle, along with good nutrition. Students will also learn the 5 basic movement patterns of daily living: pushing, pulling, bend- and-lift (squatting), single-leg (lunging) and rotational movements (twisting). Class is led by a certified personal trainer and youth exercise specialist. Thursday Classes Little Scientists Instructor: Smartycat Kids Grades 1- 2 Cost: $120 Using fully hands-on activities and experiments, we make learning science fun! We will explore the basics of biology, chemistry, physics, engineering and technology in this lively and interactive class. All experiments will be different from last semester! DanceInstructor: Mrs. Yospin Grades 1-2 Cost: $110 Do you love to dance? Do you want to learn more dance moves? Then Dance is the place to be! Whether you currently take dance lessons or not, all are welcomed! in Dance, you will learn the basics of dance and hip hop! Each week you'll learn a new style of dance and do a mini routine to the style. So come on and feel the music and dance!

Do you want to remember the details about your favorite events? Come join Miss Fano to learn everything you need to know about scrapbooking! In this class you will be taught the basic skills you will need to create your first scrapbook! By the end, you will get to bring home your own completed scrapbook to share with your family and friends! YogaInstructor: Loft of Yoga Grades 1-3 Cost: $115 Experience a great way to relax and take a deep breath after a long day at school. Classes will focus on the benefits of positive energy, fun and sense of calm. Floor HockeyInstructor: Mr. Simmons Grades 3-5 Cost: $110 The class will include lead up skills that include stick handling, passing, shooting, positioning and game concepts. Following skill work each class will play 6 on 6 Hockey Games! MinecraftInstructor: Ivy Clubhouse Grades 3-5 Cost: $165 Students will be building their dream home, setting up their village, creating a market place, replicating famous buildings and making amusement parks. Students will practice effective communications skills through discussions during group exercises and presentations of their creations in Minecraft. This class will be limited to 12 students. Hooked on Books!Instructor: Ms. Yendrick Grade 3-5 Cost: $110 Hooked on Books! Come join Miss Yendrick Grades 3-5 for ASA’s Hooked on Books! Here’s your chance to read a favorite or brand new book as we gather with our L-H readers for an afterschool reading book club. Students will choose their books based on a selection, create their clubs, begin their journey of meeting new characters; as we become an afterschool community of readers and take conversation to a whole new level. A simple and enjoyable way to build friendships with other book lovers, read books they might not have chosen to read on their own and just the pure satisfaction, of reading for enjoyment.

6 General Information Schedule Classes will run on either Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays for seven non- consecutive weeks. Please check your calendar and make note of the specific days. Not all weeks are consecutive. Confirmation and Room Assignments Confirmation and room assignments will be emailed prior to the start of the program. During the first week of the session escorts will be available to take the 1 st graders to their classes. If you ever have any concerns, feel free to escort your child to his/her class throughout the session. If you wish to do so, please call Yvonne Travers in the main office prior to arrival and remember to sign in/out at the main office. Pick-up Procedure After School Activities are PTO sponsored programs. They are not a Lincoln-Hubbard program. It’s the responsibility of the parent to ensure his/her child is picked up on time. ASAs end promptly at 4:05PM. Children will be dismissed from the Upper Crescent Avenue doors by the class teacher. Only those listed as approved people on your registration form may pick-up your child. Class Cancellations There is one make-up class scheduled for the session due to a class being cancelled for weather or a last minute emergency. Scholarships PTO scholarships are available. Mr. Carlin will review all need-based scholarships. Please call him in the office at 273-1333. If you’re applying for a scholarship, please send in your registration form with a note indicating that Mr. Carlin is reviewing for a scholarship. Do not wait for his approval before signing up. Snacks Snacks will not be provided. But, please feel free to send one in for your child. Food Allergy Policy Many of the rooms are nut-free during the school day. Please respect this rule. It’s for the safety of our children. The ingredients used in the Little Bakers class are tree-nut and peanut free. We are unable to accommodate gluten allergies.

7 Registration Procedures Complete a separate registration form for each child and each course. Forms may be copied if needed. Return the form to your child’s teacher on or before Friday, January 8th. All checks should be made out to Lincoln-Hubbard PTO. Attach a separate check for each class. Registration will not be done on a first come first serve basis. There will be a lottery for classes that are over-subscribed. If you have previously been bumped from a class, you will be placed in the class of your choice prior to the lottery. If needed, the lottery will be held on January 15 th. If we don’t meet the minimum numbers of students per class, we will need to cancel the class. You will be notified of the classes your child is in the week of January 18 th. If you do not get into your first choice class you will be given the opportunity to sign up for another class or will be issued a refund. We will be offering one make-up for classes that are cancelled due to weather. ***Please note, each ASA registration requires a separate form and check.
