5. 750 years ago, the first government was introduced, which met in the Houses of Parliament. This prestigious monument is located in West Minster which is in London, the capital city of England. The Houses of Parliament are best known for the infamous landmark known as Big Ben (the clock bell). There are two houses, the House of Lords & the House of Commons. The most powerful house is the Commons, this is where laws and regulations are discussed and decided. A law is a rule made by Members of Parliament (M.P’s). Laws tell us whether we can do something or not. The elections are held here as well as all over the country.
