A. Separating Solids and Liquids Put on goggles. Carefully, open the container with the unidentified mixture. Use plastic forceps to remove all the solids and place them into a large cup (SEPUP tray). B. Separating Different Liquids 1. Use a dropper to move one of the liquids into a small cup. Move as much as possible without mixing the liquids. 2. Follow the same procedure with the second liquid and place it into a second cup. 3. Clean and dry the droppers.

C. Separating and Cleaning Different Solids 1. Use forceps to separate plastic and metallic solids. Place them into different cups. 2. Rinse solids with water (rinsing water). 3. Pat dry with a paper towel. D. Clean Up 1. Clean up according to teacher’s directions. 2. Put all waste in designated containers. 3. Clean hands.
