5  Once we know WHAT needs to be done, we need to set priorities for tasks  Set priorities based on:  Urgency (e.g., due date – tomorrow?!)  Importance (e.g., a 40% vs. a 10% test)

6 High %, due very soon, “needs to be done” Low %, due far into future, “may be done” LOW HIGH

7 n 80/20 Rule: ◦ In any list of tasks, 80% of the importance lies in 20% of the list

10 n Once we know WHAT our priorities are, we need to estimate the amount of time for the tasks we’ve chosen to do n Why? ◦ So we can plan WHEN we do the tasks

11 n Rule of Thumb: 1.For every 1 hour in class you should be spending 2-3 hours studying/working n12 hrs class + 24-36 hours study/work

12 n TIP: Break large tasks into many smaller (more manageable) ones
