6 The Purpose of Assessment is … To determine student progress To improve student learning To inform provide info for teacher to plan appropriate teaching and learning

8 The Principles of Assessment Each group will be assigned a section to summarize and present through Visuals Song Drama Interpretive dance Role play

9 In Authentic Assessment… Children apply their knowledge and skills in a in situation or to a task that is meaningful to them and is within the range of typical classroom activity. Tasks are close as possible to real-life practical and intellectual challenges in a real-life context.

10 Authentic Assessment is… Planned and structured so all students can understand the reasons behind the assessment tasks Ensures students are aware of learning intentions and criteria for success Reveals shared set of learning outcomes that show strengths and areas for improvement. 13 2. How effective assessment support the teaching and learning cycle Effective assessments are planned and built in the learning, not added after the event. Identifying the summative and formative assessments in the planning process before starting the planner identifies what is worth knowing and assessing.
