2 Conflict Styles

3 Conflict Styles—Competing(My Way) Ensure that you win the argument. Argue your point and do not concede any points. Fight to the finish if you must.

4 Conflict Styles—Collaborating(Our Way) Talk and listen to the other party. Discuss and clarify goals & agreement. See each other's positions.

5 Conflict Styles—Avoiding(No Way) Pretending that it doesn't exist. Minimize the differences Or refrain from engaging in what seems to be an inevitable argument.

6 Conflict Styles—Accomodating (Your Way) Accepting her/his point of view or suggestion. Make peace to get past this sticking point. Allow the other to have his/her way.

7 Conflict Styles—Compromising (Neither Way) Give in on each side. Finding a middle way. Accepting that neither side will gain everything. Elements of all styles.

8 In what ways does your conflict style match you? In what ways does your conflict style not match? Small Groups…

9 What happens if your conflict style differs with someone else? What happens when a forcing type conflicts with a problem-solving type? How about with a giving in type? With an avoidance type? Large Group

10 a. Peer Mediation: If you have a conflict see a staff person to start this process. Peer Mediators will be in touch. b. Counselors: You can always ask our counselors if they can help you with a conflict. c.
