5. What Do You Know About Plants? In your science notebooks make a KWL chart and list the things you know, and want to know about plants. Write one of the things you know on the leaf provided.

6. OBSERVING LIMA BEANS Turn to your Table of Contents and add Seed Observations. Gather materials: 1 dry lima bean, 1 hand lens, activity sheet 1 Complete the chart by writing one or two descriptive words in each of the first four blocks (Color, shape, texture, and odor) Make a drawing in the last block. “Size” Measure it with a centimeter ruler. Place your bean in the medicine vial filled with water.

Choose the healthy plants to stay. Keep one plant per cell. Loosen the soil around the plants. Remove the plants carefully. Use a handlens to examine your plants.
