3. Bonjour! My name is Mme Maria E. Fernandez and I will be your child’s French Teacher for the school year 2015 – 2016. I have been a Cavalier my entire Teaching career: 23 years! While at Gables, I have also taught Spanish, coached the Swim team and the Track team in the 90’s and sponsored the French Club for a number of years. I believe that we must nurture the whole individual and extracurricular activities are necessary in the formation of our students. I would like to thank you for your attendance here tonight. I appreciate the fact that you took time out of your busy schedule to come to our Open House. The relationship between Parents and Teachers is essential for the development of your children and our students. The guidance that we can provide in these pivotal years is of the utmost importance. I am looking forward to speaking to you in the near future. I have had the pleasure of teaching some of your children for up to three years now. I have learned as much from them as I hope they have learned from me. For those of you whose children are new to my class, Teaching is my passion and the French language has a special place in my heart! I hope that I can instill that love in your children. Learning French could be an important tool in their lives not only for the purpose of their Academic endeavors but also for the pure joy of knowing it and using it to explore a whole new World. 5. Just a reminder… All 9 th and 10 th grade students are using District-provided tablets in an effort for Digital Convergence – Technology is used in our classroom regularly. Duolingo is a free app that has already been dowloaded onto your child’s device (cellphone/tablet/IPad) They do 10 minutes of French daily. My appreciation for your efforts of having your child in school everyday and on time. Extremely important! Merci! Stay in touch with your child’s counselor. If your child is not aware of this information, I could be of service. Uniform compliance is mandatory! It adds discipline and safety to the school environment. ID’s are part of the uniform.
