Who got blamed for the war? (War Guilt Clause) GERMANY! Had to accept all the blame for starting the war, even though Austria-Hungary started it. Why? European countries were mad at Germany for what happened during the war.

Reparations (Money) Germany: had to pay about $33 billion. Austria: went bankrupt before money owed could be set. Hungary: amount owed never set. Bulgaria: $180 million Turkey: No money owed.

Military Restrictions Germany: Army: reduced to 100,000 men and no tanks Navy: allowed 6 ships and no subs Airforce: no airforce

Military Restrictions: Others Austria: Army reduced to 30,000 men Hungary: Army reduced to 35,000 men Bulgaria: restrictions made, not specified Turkey: no restrictions

Land Restrictions: Germany Germany NOT ALLOWED to unite with Austria!!! Lost land to: France, Belgium, Denmark, Czechoslovakia, and Poland.

Land Restrictions: Others Austria: lost land to Italy, Czechoslovakia, and Serbia (Yugoslavia). Hungary: lost land to Austria, Czechoslovakia, Romania, and Serbia (Yugoslavia). Bulgaria: lost land to Greece, Romania, and Serbia (Yugoslavia). Turkey: lost land to Greece.

Peace Keeping Germany: Rhineland kept free of military personnel and weapons; League of Nations took control of colonies. Turkey: League of Nations took control of colonies.
