2 What are hurricanes? (a tropical cyclone.)
Heavy winds and rain storms. Must have over 74 mph (119 km per hour) winds. definition of a hurricane : “ tropical cyclone is a storm system characterized by a large low-pressure center and numerous thunderstorms that produce strong winds and heavy rain. Tropical cyclones feed on heat released when moist air rises, resulting in condensation of water vapor contained in the moist air.”

3 How are hurricanes formed?
When warm air meets cold air the cold air takes in the warm air but lets out cold air. Ocean water must be 27 degrees centigrade or over.

4 What causes hurricanes?
Warm water and Warm moist air. Ocean water 27 degrees centigrade or over. The different tropical pre-hurricanes. - Tropical depression—wind speeds of less than 38 miles per hour - Tropical storm—wind speeds of 39 mph to 73 mph - Hurricane—wind speeds greater than 74 mph

5 The difference category's of hurricane.
Category 1: Winds km/hr (74-95 mph) -- faster than a cheetah  Category 2: Winds km/hr ( mph) -- as fast or faster than a baseball pitcher's fastball  Category 3: Winds km/hr ( mph) -- similar, or close, to the serving speed of many professional tennis players  Category 4: Winds km/hr ( mph) -- faster than the world's fastest rollercoaster  Category 5: Winds more than 259 km/hr (155 mph) -- similar, or close, to the speed of some high-speed trains

1)1780 the great hurricane on Oct 10th & 11th killed 4,326 in Barbados.) 2)1831 a hurricane kills 1,500 3) 1887 in December a tropical storm hit with 45mph winds 4)1887 September 12th a hurricane just north with 80mph winds 5)1895 October 15th a hurricane just south hits with 110mph winds 6) 1898 September 10th 95mph hundreds killed  7) 1916 august 13th an 85mph hurricane passes just north 8) 1955 September 22nd hurricane Janet hits with 120mph winds killing 3,509) people & damaging 1800 homes,20,000 homeless.. 10) 1963 September 24th hurricane Edith just north with 95mph winds 11)1979 hurricane David passes to the north Aug 29th with 140mph winds 12) Area had gusts to 75mph 13) 1980 august 4th hurricane Allen hit as a catorgory 3 with 125mph winds. 14) 1995 hurricane Marilyn to north Sept 14th with 75mph winds minor damage .

10 What do you need to have to be prepared for a hurricane?
Have a 2 week stock of food. (caned food.) A can opener. water First aid kit. Blankets Board games.
